Appearance: This product is in the form of irregular blocks, flakes, or helmets, some of which are small fragments. The surface is uneven, with knife marks and occasional holes. It has a fragrant aroma and a bitter taste.
Identification: (1) Cross section of this product: 1-2 rows of cells with a wide radiation, filled with brown resin. The catheter is round and polygonal, with a diameter of 42-128 μ m, and some contain brown resin. Wood fiber is polygonal, with a diameter of 20-45 μ m, slightly thick walls, and is woody. The phloem between trees is flattened, elongated, elliptical or strip-shaped, often intersecting with rays, with thin cell walls, non woody, and contains brown resin; There are a few scattered fibers, and some thin-walled cells contain calcium oxalate crystals.
